Bluetooth Wireless ear buds

All,

I know this topic has come up before. Just dont see anything recent. Pretty much everyone who wears wireless Bluetooth buds paired with these watches, and wears the watch on the left hand is aware that there are problems with BT connection loss while exercising outdoors. We've been told to wear the watch on the right arm instead (I find that awkward, and annoying). My remedy with my Bose Soundsports was to just wear them with the wire hanging in front, which helps a lot.

I recently picked up a set of Samsung Buds that are totally in-ear similar to apple ear buds. I ran with them outdoors this past week, and they were totally unusable with the watch on left wrist outdoors. Seems like the BT signal needs to be bumped up a bit?

Been using Jabra Elite Sport in Swedish Nordic climate for 3 months now with up to 3 layers of Norrøna clothing, no problem at all (left wrist).

Thats great to know. I wonder what makes those different? They look almost identical to the Samsung buds.
  • Been using Jaybird Tonah Pro for over a month— no issues.
  • I put software version 6.58 (beta) on my fenix 5x+ and can happily report that the bluetooth issues are resolved. I can wear the watch on my left hand, I use bose soundsport wireless earbuds and the connection is great, as good or better than my Polar M600 and just as good or better than multiple android phones I used with them. On software 6.0 the bluetooth is terrible. So maybe try the newer beta or wait for the fix to be pushed out on a regular release, but don't despair. I know I did, after spending all this cash and having horrible bluetooth I was bummed.

Is there a trick to getting the Jabra's to pair? I can only get my Elite 65t's to work on the initial pairing. After that, the only way I can connect is by removing and re-pairing.
  • For whatever reason, sometimes I have to restart my Fenix to reconnect to Bluetooth headphones.

Thanks for the recommendation. I just ordered some of these to give a try. I hope they do the trick, they werent real cheap.

I just followed the Fenix 5x Plus manual to add them, no problems. I think there are another thread here on the forum with someone that had connections problem. I don't think the firmware on the 4 different models of Jabra earpods differ that much (I have Jabra Elite Sport) and they are more or less auto-updating itself on release, so i think if there's some problem connecting it's more a problem with the clocks firmware. I always update my fenix with the latest firmwares, no matter beta or not.

I hope you like them. I use them daily and really love that they are waterproof, that were the main reason i choose them before the other Jabra models.
  • So, I did my first outdoor run last evening. They are better than the Samsung with regards to BT connectivity, but not perfect. When my left arm is at my side, signal still cuts out. When in typical running position with arms/wrists out front, it was fine.

I also think I have to play around with the fit a bit more. While they seem to fit ok out of the box, they didnt give me much of the lower end sound range. I found that if I pushed them a bit further into my ear, then the full sound range could be heard.
