Bluetooth Wireless ear buds

All,

I know this topic has come up before. Just dont see anything recent. Pretty much everyone who wears wireless Bluetooth buds paired with these watches, and wears the watch on the left hand is aware that there are problems with BT connection loss while exercising outdoors. We've been told to wear the watch on the right arm instead (I find that awkward, and annoying). My remedy with my Bose Soundsports was to just wear them with the wire hanging in front, which helps a lot.

I recently picked up a set of Samsung Buds that are totally in-ear similar to apple ear buds. I ran with them outdoors this past week, and they were totally unusable with the watch on left wrist outdoors. Seems like the BT signal needs to be bumped up a bit?
  • I also think I have to play around with the fit a bit more. While they seem to fit ok out of the box, they didnt give me much of the lower end sound range. I found that if I pushed them a bit further into my ear, then the full sound range could be heard.

It took me some time to find a perfect match, days... I think the soft earbuds gives best bass and better fit while the harder sets give you better clarity in music and feels better if you are running for long. So i guess it's all about preference :)
  • Is there a trick to getting the Jabra's to pair? I can only get my Elite 65t's to work on the initial pairing. After that, the only way I can connect is by removing and re-pairing.

I've just got a pair of Elite Active 65t's and have the same issue. Do you have a solution? I never had this issue at all with my Skullcandy Method Wireless.

  • I just followed the Fenix 5x Plus manual to add them, no problems. I think there are another thread here on the forum with someone that had connections problem. I don't think the firmware on the 4 different models of Jabra earpods differ that much (I have Jabra Elite Sport) and they are more or less auto-updating itself on release, so i think if there's some problem connecting it's more a problem with the clocks firmware. I always update my fenix with the latest firmwares, no matter beta or not.

Do you have a link to that thread, I can't find it please?

  • Definitely upgrade to the beta 6.71 if you want to have a stable BT connection to your earbuds! I use Jabra Elite Sport and have no issues while running (fenix 5x Plus on my left wrist) with beta firmware 6.71 (while there were many dropouts with system software release 6.00).
  • I have my third pair of Jaybird Tarah Pros in a year. I have constant issues even getting them to pair to start my workouts. It is almost every third workout that an ordeal occurs. I have to reset them every three days nd Jaybird's support is AWFUL. I will never suggest these.

  • Aftershokz Aeropex have worked flawlessly for more than 1 year, except the track back triple press, which I guess is poor support of the bluetooth protocol from Garmin. Sound quality is good, no ear infections due to stuff stuck into ears, and you can hear enough of your surroundings not to be in danger.

  • I've found the MPow M30 excellent - connection is rock solid.
