Get activity data back to watch?

I just upgraded from FR645M to Fenix 5X Plus (needed more battery for my workouts). All my workouts and running are stored in garmin connect, but now nothing is stored on the Fenix 5X. Is there a way to get it back? I want all my runs and workouts that was stored on the FR645, on my F5X.
  • The activity .FIT files are stored on the device in the /Garmin/Activities folder (at least they are on all of the Fenix 5 series watches). You could, in theory, copy those FIT files from your 645 onto the 5X Plus via the USB cable to your computer. Honestly, I can't think of a reason why you would do that, but you can. This will not move or copy any of your fitness trends or data (recovery state, VO2Max, FTP, etc., you can use Physio TrueUp for most of that).

There has to be a limit to the new number of old activities you need on the watch, right? I mean over the last year I have like 300 activities. There's no way to really browse, search or access these in any efficient way directly on the watch. Why not use Garmin Connect or Strava to house your data? The activity files on the watch, for me, are only useful for the couple of minutes before it syncs to Strava, where I can dig into the data and archive it. That said, I do keep all of those FIT files, just in case I need them in the future, but I keep them on my computer, not on the watch.
