[BUG] USB mode set to Garmin fallback to MTP anyway

Dear all,

On my f5+ (fw 6.00) I've set the USB mode to "Garmin" instead of MTP to get the prompt when connecting the watch to my Mac.

The prompt shows up correctly when I connect the watch to my mac, asking me "Use MTP" (yes / no). But even if I choose "No", the watch will switch to MTP mode a few seconds later... Which is most likely not the expected behavior in this configuration...

I would like to avoid the AFT window showing up at every watch connection.

Do anyone else can confirm that this option is not working ?

Garmin Express is causing your device to be kicked out of Garmin Mode and sending it back to MTP Mode. If you do not wish this to happen, close Garmin Express so that it is not running in the background…

Not something I've looked at. Contact Garmin if you think it's a bug.

By AFT you mean Android File Transfer? You can change that behavior by stopping it running at start up. Remove it from the list.

Yes I mean Android File Transfer. The thing is that I use it also for many other devices (like my Android phone, on which I can actually select if I want it to enable MTP or not)...

I will open a case on Garmin side.

I see the same thing when connecting to my laptop running Windows 10. When I choose the "No" option at the prompt, "Use MTP (Media Transfer)?", it behaves as expected at first, then switches to MTP after about 5 seconds. I'll open a case too.

Garmin Express is causing your device to be kicked out of Garmin Mode and sending it back to MTP Mode. If you do not wish this to happen, close Garmin Express so that it is not running in the background of your computer and your device will stay in Garmin Mode.

So it's been almost a year and the bug is still there...
When can we expect this to be fixed?

well yes, this seems to be the case. But the sole reason why I am connecting my phone to the computer is because I wanted to use Garmin Connect to update the firmware of the device.. but I can.. so, chiken/egg situation.
