Move bar always empty

Have you turned on 'Move Alert'?

You should not need to turn on 'Move Alert' for the move bar to work. I never used it before.

In any case later on yesterday my move bar suddenly started working again. Not sure if it needs around 24 hours for it to start working. Odd.

Perhaps you were active enough to prevent the move bar from kicking in.

Sorry yes you are right. I was worried the actual bar was not filling up.

And you must set your go to sleep and wake up hours.

Actually, no, you don't need to turn on alerts to see the move bar. The move bar isn't something to remind you to move every hour and not seeing it is a good thing!

The way it works is you only see the first segment of the move bar if you've not moved enough the last hour, and that's about 100 steps. The 4 smaller segments are for each additional 15 minutes, so with all 5 segments that's 2 hours or more, you have to do about 200 steps to clear it..

So, if you did at least 100 steps in the past hour, you'll not see it. It's a way to let you know you've not met the minimum, not to just move every hour.

But you do need to turn on alerts if you want alerts! Which is what was mentioned by the OP.
