If I track a walk activity and do zero moving whatsoever, the miles counter slowly goes up... maybe .01 miles every 10 to 15 seconds. Any idea why this is happening and how to fix? GPS is being used on the activity.
I believe consumer devices have roughly a 3 meter accuracy, so as time goes on there is some drift that is happening. You can see this in the distance traveled field of your watch. What you are seeing is generally normal. I don't remember the totals from my last GPS soak when i updated firmware, but over 20 minutes with the watch laying out in my back yard, some distance was covered and given the accuracy of the device, that is expected.
As noted, that's a happening thing with GPS. And also why it's important to ensure GPS is turned off for indoor activities. If not turned off you'll end up with speed and distance values that are worthless as they've been recorded from the GPS data.
You can confirm GPS drift by reviewing your activity in Garmin Connect; you'll probably see your track for when you were standing still looks a bit like Mr Messy.
