Canadian hiking Apps and Maps?

What are users of this extreme GPS watch using for navigating and finding local hikes in Canada?

I know there is base camp but I am not really impressed with it as it stands downloading, routing, and usability. I have used Trailforks to help find places and a couple others on my phone before getting this watch. I was hoping to be able to find hikes with reviews and real world feedback. Load them to the watch and be able to see the route as I hike on the off chance I take a wrong turn.

i see the GPS as a safety device to backup my own hiking ability as well as good for statistical information to help me plan future goes. A good hike for me is over 10kms and I don’t see any humans.
  • I have been finding random GPX files from all over the web then import to Garmin connect. I only really use basecamp to mess around with new maps.

I do wish Garmin would release ski resort maps.

I guess I will keep looking. For a watch that was designed for exploring I really thought there would be more support for it. My garmin is my backup when I go walking deep into the woods.
