Too many features at once? Fenix 5 plus restarts

I’d like to use my Fenix 5 plus with a HRM-Run chest strap, a Stryd sensor, Bluetooth headphones (Jabra Elite 65t) and the Spotify app. These are all oficial features that independently work but together cause the watch to restart mid-activity without any warning.

Is anyone having the same issue? FW on the watch is 6.00 (the latest stable release).

For now, I ended up deleting the Spotify app and the watch is stable with the chest strap and the stryd pod. But that means I have to bring my cellphone along if I want to listen to music...

I had this since I run with Stryd. Luckily it was, both times, just before pressing start, and after reboot all was stable. Stryd, BT headphone, HR strap and phone connected with 5+... Must be something with too many connected accessories, but looks stable once it reboots. Last time I restarted the watch manually before selecting the activity but that didn't help, it restarted anyway right before pressing start...
  • Which software version? There have been quite some improvements to spotify and the connectivity stack in the latest beta's

I'm at the latest official release, 6.0
  • 6.0 with Stryd and HRM-RUN I also had several reboots (music was not needed ;-) ).
With 6.58 I have no more reboots and I also listen to music from time to time (no Spotify but just MP3).

thanks for the replies... I'll give it a try with the next stable release!
  • You keep talking about stable releases. Please note that 6.00 has more bugs than the betas, which followed it. So "stable" is just a word.

I have had my 5X+ with Stryd crash a few times in the autumn. I am not entirely sure that I was running 6.00, but it must have been around that time. For the past 3 months I have been running 6.51. The crashes hasn't happened to me lately. Whether the improved stability is a coincidence or it is related to running 6.51, I can't really tell.

    Ok, thanks for the advice.

I run today with the latest beta, v6.58, and all the features I could think of: Spotify, Stryd, HRM-Run chest strap and even Peter’s Race Pacer datafield. Happy to report no reboots whatsoever, just the occasional Bluetooth dropout with the Jabra elite 65t (but that’s another issue altogether).
  • note that 6.00 has more bugs than the betas,

A different set of bugs perhaps. Not necessarily more.

mercaders20 Think of the software as Public Release and Beta versions. It is unfortunate, but the complexity of these devices does mean that some bugs are fixed, but others are created when the software is changed.

I still think Garmin do a lot better than Microsoft overall!
  • A different set of bugs perhaps. Not necessarily more.

Beta 6.51 solved at least two bugs from 6.00. To this date I have not seen single claim about 6.51 adding new bugs, which were not in 6.00.

So you have to be more specific if you want to prove your point.

(When counting bugs, I do ignore claims about power consumption and GPS accuracy differences between versions. People are usually wildly disagreeing whether a certain version made things better or worse on these two points.)

    Since 6.51 I didn't face this anymore.
