PACE and Stryd Power Racing App

I installed the Stryd Power Racing App from the Garmin IQ Store on my Fenix 5 Plus to get maximum benefit from my Stryd Foot Pod. Stryd is supported by the Fenix 5 Plus and the Stryd power data are integrated into the Garmin Connect analysis reports.

The problem: The Stryd Power Racing App does not allow to display other data. Especially the PACE would be very helpfull, because Stryd delivers only power data and the current distance. But in a race, the PACE is also an essential information to control the run. The app itself does not allo to add additional data screens. The only solution is to switch to the watch screen and to calculate the PACE on the basis of time and distance - but this solution is cumbersome during a marathon.

Is there any better solution? I am wondering, if there are watch layouts, which contain PACE data?

Stryd Power Racing App is an application, if you want to show other data like pace, you may install Stryd Power which is a datafield.

Hope this is what you are looking for. [h=1][/h]

Thank you for your reply. I prefer the Stryd Power Race App, because it delivers more helpful data (mean power per lap and mean power of total distance). The Stryd Power Data Field shows only the actual power (for a defined number of seconds). To control energy consumption in marathon races it is important to have PACE and power values for longer intervals (e.g. values per km, per Minute, per laps).

  • Hi muness,

thank you very much. Run Power does nearly fulfill all of my requirements.
The only lack is the missing integration of the power data into the Activity Reports of Garmin Connect (where these data are shown in the split-time-table as well as in the graphical charts). The only Stryd-supporting apps, which transfer these data seem to be the apps/data fields of Stryd itself.

  • I wish we could add more than two Connect IQ data fields exactly for that reason. I now use a Humon Hex so want to use its data field and the Stryd data field and Run Power. :/

Would be solved by Garmin allowing Stryd to write data to the native fields within the .fit file, instead of forcing them to be written to CIQ fields. I encourage you to contact Garmin to request they remove this limitation.

Alternatively, as crazy as this sounds, you can track your run using another device - such as an Apple Watch - along with the Stryd, then upload the activity to Garmin Connect. Yeah, that’s right, you’ll get better analysis within Garmin’s platform by tracking an activity using someone else’s device than you do using a Garmin device...
