There are two basic versions of the watch - APAC -Asian Pacific- and ROW -Rest of World. You need an APAC version for Chinese. If the watch is new, you may want to consider exchanging it for an APAC version.

Only the Chinese version APAC version sold in China, HongKong, Taiwan for much higher price than USA version, they have the Chinese support with the Chinese font download features available. They use this method to lock down the region market so the grey market apac can’t flood into the Asian region. It’s really a selfish move for Garmin, we are in 21st century, almost all smart watch or phone now days support all languages now days, and yet Garmin still playing these games.
