• Fixed several minor issues with music.

Please note, the beta updates released on these forums are not suitable for APAC region devices.

Please send all bug reports to "][email protected], and indicate which model of the fenix 5 Plus series you have in the subject line.
• We released a new beta (on top of the previous beta) for you to test with the following (new) functions.
I think Allan is making a valid observation here.

I think it would be super nice if Garmin would stick to the procedure proposed by Allan. People expect from a stable version to be... stable. It doesn't change anything for your development (apart from how you name the releases), but I reckon it would avoid a lot of confusion.
• I hope you're addressing Garmin and not me, I'm only a junior form user. Hehe
• reginalb whilst I agree that some of the fuss is about boundary cases that probably impact only a small percentage of users there are other issues that impact far more. The battery life issues have impacted large numbers of users (you are obviously lucky on this score) and these seem to have causes that are a mixture of hardware and software (as many people report fixes after replacement watch or battery). GPS for running is poor compared with a number of similar devices - not bad enough to make it unuseable but worse than a number of cheaper Garmin devices - this may be due to the Metal body as the 935 performs better with similar hardware and software. Open water swimming is still not good - better than it was but still poor - I'm surprised that as a triathlete you are not impacted by that.

"Last week, I had a little over 9 hours spent across 3 pool swims, 3 runs, and 4 rides. On the bike, I used a power meter and saw no power spikes in over 4 hours of riding. Running, I spent a bit less than 3 hours, and used bluetooth music for all runs and saw no crashes during the summary voiceovers announcements at the end of each lap. My swims used an HRM-swim, but I haven't heard about any issues with regards to that, but it's worth noting that's another 2+ issue free activity hours. I also used it to navigate to a store walking downtown, and on a couple stroller walks with my daughter."

In the above activities - how much of that did you get on a single charge ?

I don't get stellar battery life, I agree with that being an issue. I get a few days on a charge, but given that I run with music, and I work at a desk, it hasn't been a huge surprise or detriment to me. I don't even wear it as my day to day watch (for that I have a Wear OS watch - as I prefer the more rich notifications and frankly, the display). I am not an ultra runner, if I were, I sure wouldn't be happy with it. I'd probably get a Coros if that was my use case. They are performing downright wizardry with regards to battery life. We will see how that continues as they roll out more and more features for their devices. That said, I don't consider poor battery life to be a "stability" issue, though. I do hope they fix it down the road.

With regards to GPS quality, I don't know that you can really state that the 935 outperforms the Fenix. Firstly, there is always going to be device to device variation - there are likely quite a few 935's that outperform the average 5 plus, there could also be quite a few where it's the other way around. For GPS accuracy I go with 2 things, first there's DCR, who didn't note what you're describing in his review. Then there's my personal experience. I have run the same route near my house with the Fenix 5 Plus now quite a few times, after having run it many times with a 645M and a few aith a 910xt, and the 5 plus outperforms both of those. I am not saying you're wrong, just that I think it's almost impossible to truly know what you're asserting. My 5 Plus occasionally shows me on the wrong side of the road, but it's normally spot-on for reception when I run. It would be awfully hard to test with a large enough number of devices

Actually, my Wear OS watch outperforms all of them on GPS accuracy (though nothing else).
• reginalb battery life to me seems poor for this type of device aimed at outdoor hiking etc with maps, GPS , Navigation - these are likely to be long activities so battery life is important. I too work in an office every day so the battery life is an inconvenience rather than a drastic problem. The battery life does seem to vary drastically in a way that my previous Garmins have not. As for the GPS issue I think you are lucky - there is an acknowledged problem with GPS accuracy on the Fenix range and I think even Garmin recognise that - there is certainly anecdotal evidence on this and other forums. DCR does note the apalling OW swimming GPS and others have noted very poor GPS trackes when walking. The best GPS tracks I get are still from my Forerunner 610.
• Garmin should buy Coros. That battery life sure looks nice!!
• Lol, why would they buy a company that basically is just a cheap ripoff of what they already have. Ray's review had a 935 and Coros Pace right next to each other and they were basically identical with just the buttons on different sides. If you want a plastic watch with fantastic battery life just get a 935.
