Sensors lost after Strava connection

Hi!

I'm using a Tacx Neo and the Garmin HRM connected with ANT+ to the FEnix 5Plus (SW 6.51).
Also with ANT+ to Zwitft on a Win10 Notebook.

All sensors (HRM, Power, Cadence, Speed) were connected to both the watch and to Zwift with no problems so far.

Now i got myself a Strava account.
Zwift still recognises all the sensors like before, the activity is also uploaded to Strava with no problems.

But the Fenix now shows odd behaviour. With indoor biking the Tacx sensors are not connected, the HRM is working only half the time.
In the settings it says the Cadence/Speed from the Tacx is connected, but the Powermeter and the HRM cannot be found.

Has someone experienced similar behaviour?

  • I know you say you're connected by ANT+, but are you sure that the various sensors aren't actually connecting themselves via Bluetooth? If you have ANT+ and BLE connections set up on the f5+, it tends to be random which connection method it will use each time. Likewise, is it possible that Zwift is connecting via BLE without you realising?

Maybe not, but for the sake of elimination I'd suggest disabling Bluetooth on your Notebook, and on your F5+ going into the BLE instance of each sensor connection and disabling it (in theory just one of these steps should be sufficient, but both will make absolutely certain that there's no connection taking pace over BLE)

    Thanks for your suggestions.

I'm nor sure you can activate/deactivate BLE or ANT+ seperately. At least I didn't find such settings. Only thing is Wifi.

I tried to disconnect the HRM and the Tacx Power from the F5+. Now it doesn't find them anymore :-(

However with Zwift everything works fine, so the sensors are OK.

Also restarting the Watch didn't help.

  • You can't disable BLE/ANT+ on the watch, you have to turn off individual connections with each sensor on it.

Is it possible that you haven't actually set up the ANT+ pairings on your Fenix?

On your f5+, if you go to Settings>Sensors & Accessories you can then scroll through a list of everything that you've paired. Â If a device offers connection via BLE and ANT+, you'll see it listed twice, one for each type of connection as long as you paired it both ways when you originally set it up with your Fenix. Â So if you've got an HRM that does BLE and ANT+, you should see two HRMs in your list of sensors. Â To find out which is which, you need to connect to that device and then an "about" page should appear (I can't remember what it's called) that will then tell you if that's the BLE or the ANT+ version of the connection. Â My suggestion is that you turn off (under "Status") the BLE instance of the sensor if you wan't to be sure your Fenix isn't using the BLE connection and therefore preventing anything else from using it (your BLE sensors can only be connected to a single device at any time, e.g. if your HRM is connected to your f5+ via BLE, it can't then connect to Zwift via BLE at the same time).

If you only see one instance of a sensor in the list (and you're sure it's ANT+ and BLE), then you need to do another search for a new sensor and pair the missing "version".

TL;DR - Your Fenix sees a sensor that transmits BLE and ANT+ as two separate sensors which you have to initially set up separately.

After trying some more things, I think the Connect App is the Problem.
There was an Update on my phone (LG G6) the day before the problems startet. So I disconnected the watch from the Pfone completely and did a Reset of the watch.
Now the sensors are connected again with no problems.

BUT after reconnecting the watch with the phone I cannot sync anymore. Same behaviour on my Huawei tablet.

    Hm....
