Automatic WLAN upload not working anymore

Before firmware 6.0 my watch did an automatic upload as soon as i was in reach of my home WLAN, however it is not doing so anymore.
Is this a known issue?
Can anybody confirm?

I have the same issue. I'm able to search and add a new network, but connecting to it after adding is not working. I get the following error: "Unable to connect to Wi-Fi network. Error code 0500"
  • I have the same issue!
For me synchronisation by WiFi was more important than Bluetooth. It worked flawless with many forerunner watches! But not with fenix 5 plus. I am able to search and setup my network. First connection test is always positive, also Spotify synchronisation per WiFi is working. BUT NOT my training sessions! Very annoying!
I am sure it depends on the router model because it is working on other WiFi networks than my own.

Failure code is the same as yours. 0500

I did configure a completely different AP in my watch but still no automatic WLAN upload.
So it‘s definately a software bug in the Fenix 5+ watch.
It‘s so frustrating to again and again experience the total mess in Garmin‘s unprofessional software development.

I did some exercises and noticed, that the watch does indeed connect to the internet via WLAN and automatically synchronizes the data after the exercises.
However, it does not give me the notification/confirmation anymore on my iPhone XS that the activity was uploaded and ready to view as it did on my iPhone 6.
I checked the notification settings of the app and it is all enabled - it also does not make any difference if the app is running in the background or not.
  • If I'm correct, GCM will only send you a notification if the upload is via BT, and essentially the iPhone.

I'm not aware of ever receiving notifications of updates over WiFi, unless I instigate the synchronisation.

TBH, I'm never bothered which way it uploads, as long as it does. I only know for that it' gone up via a GCM synch if I get the message. If you disable the WiFi, you can of course force the upload over the phone and see if you then get the notification from GCM.

    Hi all,

any news on this error? Saw this for the first time on my 5+ today and comes up consistently now... :(

    Thanks!
  • The problem appears to lay with the device connecting to the Garmin servers wherever they might be (seepost #59 here. FWIW I'm only seeing this on my 5+ and 935, but other devices I have are connecting and transferring over WiFi using the same networks.

If you haven't reported this to Garmin Support yourself, then you should do so now. Never any point assuming Garmin know. And the more reports, the more likely Garmin are to pay attention.

Same issue. Failing to connect to wifi. Error code 0500. Spoke to Garmin and they said it is a known issue that they are working on.
