ANT+ problem - lost my HRM after a few days of use

Hello everyone,
With my wife, we bought 2 Garmin Fenix 5+ and HRM Run.
After a few days of use, my wife's Garmin no longer detects the HRM belt. I did some pairing tests, and finally, his watch found again my HRM belt.
Yesterday, again problems, no HRM belt detection. I tried a coupling with the 2 watches by wearing the belt myself, my watch detects the belt well, not the watch of my wife.
Ideas ?

Welcome in the world of Garmin!
Be prepated for a never ending list of bugs reported an ignored - or (as i recommend) get your lots of money back as long as you can return the watches.
    You have been warned :)
  • Check that you both have the same software versions - Settings - System - About (scroll through the fields looking at Firmware, GPS and BLE. If not the same, update so they are.

Unpair the HRM-Run from both devices.
Remove the battery from the HRM (at this point it might well be worth trying a known good new battery)
Place the battery in upside down and leave for a few seconds.
Replace the battery right side up.
Re-pair the HRM to the devices.

@philipshambrook Are you a hidden or official Garmin Employee/Supporter/Lobbyist because you exactly know how to discharge the capacitor and reset the microcontroller inside the HRM?
  • The trick with putting the battery upside down is well known for anyone who has been visiting this forum for a long time.

Thank you for the information that Garmin is not able to correct their software bugs since a long time.
  • I don't see how it relates to any software bugs. This is just a method of resetting the HRM sensor during battery replacement.

The 2 watches are at the same level of update.
I noticed that my wife's watch was losing ANT + binding when it fully recharged the watch (during the night), something I never do.
A reboot of the watch solves the problem momentarily but the strangest is the different behavior of the same 2 watches on the detection of the same device
  • Well, then maybe one of the watches is faulty. Contact Garmin support, and maybe they'll offer you a replacement.

    Hi,
after 1.5 week of usage my garmin fenix plus started to have issues connectiong to my HRM belt, then my phone. Was new this january. Pairing issues escalated. Tried to unpair and reboot the watch with no effect - still unable to pair.
Sendt it inn to garmin and got a new watch.

And now working great.. and to my suprise - the new watch use less battery with the same configurations :) about 1.5 half day more.
