Hello Fenix 5x Plus users,

We have new beta software ready for your upcoming adventures!

Fenix 5X Plus: https://www8.garmin.com/support/down...s.jsp?id=14335

Note: Please allow for the updates to propagate across all servers. There is no need to post that the link does not work. It will after a bit of patience.

6.55 Change Log Notes:
• Fixed an issue where one couldn't Race an activity from the activity history menu.
• Fixed an issue where the alarm clock status was incorrect when accessed through Power Controls.
• Fixed an intermittent issue where the device could crash during an activity.
• Fixed several minor issues with music.

Please note, the beta updates released on these forums are not suitable for APAC region devices.

Please send all bug reports to "][email protected], and indicate which model of the fenix 5 Plus series you have in the subject line.
• Does the alert function work with iPhones too? I thought that iPhone prevented apps from sending text messages?
• It does. Tested this out with my wife the other day.

I’d eliminate the hold for 7 seconds since you could always create a control option. Too much going on with the light button.
• Perhaps the upcoming successor has only one button for all:p (sarcasm).

• Doing it this way makes it simple to do if needed. No need to look at the watch, (you get the vibrations) the light button is available at all times and you don't need to recall which hotkey to use.
• Yes! Music now plays correctly when running an application and I no longer have to put up with the interference and drops outs which made the feature unuseable.

Battery drain on the more intensive 3rd party watch faces (I use the GM4 Master) now fixed.

If only you could revert the RHR calc back to what it was before - to be consistent with the generally accepted practice - then things would be great

Thanks Garmin!

Hope we get the software soon for the APAC version. I also experience music playback interference when I run another application.
• Hi all.
I've tested the 6.55 beta the last two days running and biking.
Issue: Watch freezes and immediately reboots, mid-activity, when streaming Bluetooth audio to headphones and voice prompt for lap split tries to cut in.
Reproduced the issue twice on two different activities yesterday, while tracking an MTB ride. Listening to podcast from Spotify and watch reboots at the 5km marker because of the voice prompt. While running last night, the lap split is 1km but no earphones connected and no reboots occurred.
This morning, earphones connected to phone this time, and watch tracking MTB ride: At the 5km split, the audio prompt cut in across my music streaming from my phone and there was no reboot. I suspect though that the prompt is coming from the phone through Garmin Connect (I stand to be proven wrong)

Bottom line: Don't update to this Beta if you stream audio from watch, and use audio prompts for progress monitoring

This doesn’t appear to be an issue on my Fenix 5+ (non X version). I have audio alerts set up for every lap and pace every minute on my Fenix 5+ (on sw 6.55), music from Spotify and paired to AfterShokz Trekz Air headphones. None of the alerts (Lap or Pace), that cut in to the music on the headphones, are causing my Fenix 5+ to crash or otherwise behave badly during Run app activities. So it’s not clear what the trigger for this issue is.
• Someone problems with navigation on a routable map with turn sound/vibration and the black turn page with street name? Does all not work on my device, although these features are enabled. Before fw 6.55 everything was fine.

So, in my original post, I said that it was the lap split voice prompt that caused the issue. To bring it further., yesterday I was running a half marathon and the same thing happened after the first KM. Watch rebooted and I resumed my activity. I then proceeded into the settings, while tracking, to turn off auto-lap. KEY: I actually turned off the "Alerts, Distance, Status = Off. This seems to have made the difference as I continued to receive voice alerts for M splits but the watch didn't reboot. N.B. Audio streaming to Trekz as before.
Another interesting thing : I always use the Data Field "Race Face" but since the crash/reboot yesterday, it has removed itself from the Run Activity screens. I had to add it again this morning as a custom field. Don't know whether it was related or not

Thanks for this feedback. I see there's a new v6.56 beta out now, I wonder if the music fix takes care of this issue?
