Disable Temperature recording

I've searched this subject but found no answer.

Is there a way to disable the temperature recording for activities? My Fenix 5+ temperature reporting is spectacularly poor and it's just a meaningless distortion and presumably a pointless drain on the battery.

For example, it was -3 C in the south of the UK this morning; the Fenix 5+ tracked the average temperature at 21.6 C, with a high of a balmy 27 C. I assume that the sensor is picking up my body heat, but that renders it useless for any practical purpose so I'd rather just shut it down.
  • It is measuring the internal temperature of the watch. This measurement is required to get a correct measurement from the pressure sensor for the altimeter. It does not use any extra battery.

Ok, but it's a no sense, since you don't use tempe, to have it displayed on the activity summary...

OK, I buy that it's using the sensor anyway so it's not consuming more battery.

But it's still a pointless measurement if it's not actually measuring the termperature the activity is being done in, but an irrelevant measure that's only being taken to facilitate another measurement.
  • They used to not let you see it for exactly this reason. But then a bunch of people requested that you be able to see it. I use a tempe for everything except for swimming and the internal temp is actually very useful in swimming activities since the water pulls the internal temp of the watch down to very close to the water temperature.

...until you have uncalibrated internal thermometer... i have asked many times to beta team the ability to calibrate thermometer... mine is off about -1,5C... 1,5C are much in the water...

Thanks for th background. That’s great that they listened (it’s bloody unusual too, based on the almost total ignorance of the feature requests threads) but you would think someone would have been smart enough to say “let’s give people the option to record it, but not force it on them seen as we know it’s nonsense”.
