Reboot during swim

First time it's happened but was half way through a pool swim, looked at watch and it had the startup logo displayed.

Started another pool activity and assumed i lost the 1st one. Checked GC after and both had synced (whether the first swim did so during the reboot im not so sure as phone was about 30 meters away in locker)

The geek in me wants to see the crash logs.. Anyone know where these are stored??

Thanks
  • I got this reboot problems right after FW 6.0 got installed on my device. I don't swim but I encountered while running; mostly at the start of the activity. I sent my logs to the beta-team.
Anyway when I installed the 6.51 beta the reboots did no longer happen. As I use a Suunto 9 in the meantime as my main watch my numbers of tries with 6.51 aren't very high but I'd say I tried more often than it usually took to encounter the reboot. As 6.51 also fixed the power-peaks with my Stryd, it was to was the way to got anyway.
  • hasnt happened to me since. all i could think of was that it might have been trying to connect to my phone over BT and somehow conflicting. I was also start/stopping the swim a lot during it but I have since started using the lap button for pausing pool swims and starting drills. Maybe this helps.

If Garmin get back about the logs you sent, please post here.

    thanks

I guess Garmin has solved the problem:
    "Changes made to version 6.55:
Fixed an intermittent issue where the device could crash during an activity."

  • Today another reboot. It happen to me always with with lap >500m. I'm with firmware 6.55
  • Hmm... I'm on v6.56 and have not had this happen. I'm doing 2-3x swim workouts per week in the pool with about 2-2500yds each workout of structured workouts sent from Garmin connect. I have not had a set over 500yds and have not done any meter swims yet this year, so I wonder if it is related to the distance or units used. I can try to do a set over 500 meters this weekend since my pool is switching their lanes for a water polo event.

Hi JNvanEs Would you send us an email at [email protected] with a copy of the Debug folder from your device as well as a description of the event and any relevant information about your device? You can access the Debug folder by plugging the device into the computer and opening the device drive. The Debug folder is in the GARMIN folder. Zip the copy of the Debug folder and attach it to the email. Please title the email, "6.55 Swim Reboot"

    Thanks!

  • This has happened to me twice now since the latest update 7.1.  This time it happened after a 2,300 M swim :(.  It did record 1975 M, but said my duration was 22 hours.  I was thinking it was the latest software update, but looks like this has been an ongoing issue.

Unfortunately had another reboot on 7.51....
    :-(

Perhaps the reboots have something to do with the HRM Swim I use? Can the watch be fruitlessly searching for the HRM while swimming? Does anyone recognize this?
