Is is possible to connect the watch to a car stereo?

Is it possible to connect a Garmin Fenix 5 Plus to a car stereo so that songs can be played? I have a 'Honda Civic1.8 i-VTEC ES 5dr' (14 plate) if that makes any difference.

I have done some Googling and there are conflicting views. For example:

1) it is possible if the stereo has a headset profile as well as a handset profile.
2) It is not possible.
3) It is possible to connect the watch to the stereo via the mobile phone.

Has anyone managed to do this? Is it possible? Thanks.
  • No Honda, but works fine with my BMW...

Not sure about Honda, but I can connect my 5x plus to my Pioneer car stereo via Bluetooth. With the stereo bluetooth set to 'on', the stereo is listed in the 'Headphone' section. It is the same as adding a set of bluetooth ear buds.

    Hello peeps
I am trying the same thing on my Renault espace 2013 ..... I can get the fenix 5 plus and stereo to communicate but it fails because the car is asking for a BT code ..... any ideas how to get or generate a BT code ..... when I connected my phone, codes were generated as part of the hand-shaking between the devices ..... not with the fenix ... Is there some extra steps ???

  • Is there a way to enter a code once prompted?

Well yes! ... it's the car infotainment system that is expecting a BT code, from the Garmin ..... interestingly, I connected the Garmin to a portable BT loudspeaker no problems and no codes required .... ???
  • I want to add that the sound quality of music playback, on the Fenix 5x plus, is pretty poor. My Ipod shuffle has much better SQ. The Fenix sound is dull and the bass is way over emphasized. This is my experience using my BT headphones, Marantz stereo/receiver, and my car stereo. Having said that, I will use other sources first (ipod, android phone, etc.) before using the fenix as a source for music. I do find having music on the Fenix pretty handy when riding my bike and working out with BT headphones. So it is a nice feature, but it just doesn't sound that great.
