OCD kicks in, scratch on bezel. Any tips?

OK I know this 5+ sapphire is a sports watch and I should expect it, but my bezel now has a lovely sratch on it thanks to of all things a plastic wheelie bin lid! Wish I had bought the titanium edition now, but has anyone got anny tips for reducing the impact? Permanent marker maybe?! :)

EDIT: I can't add a photo using this rubbish forum software. Just keeps saying 'invalid file'.
  • Honestly? More scratches. The patina helps distract from a gouge or two. Be patient, you'll get more : )

Somebody on here mentioned trying the permanent marker idea without much success. Would just roll with it. Maybe get the DLC on your next Fenix once this one's fully ded.
  • I know :) I need to get used to it. I don't really mind dinks and scuffs it's the scratch that's in my face every time I look at the thing! Titanium or DLC next time for me.

  • No offence, but I don't get the point of buying a rugged outdoor sports watch and then cover it with an ugly case like that.

If I have to choose between a few scratches on the bezel vs. putting my F5+ in an ugly rubber condom I would choose the scratches any day.

Why are people so obsessed about scratches? It's part of normal wear and tear. If you got a new car, to stop it getting scratched or dented you would leave it in the garage. Why are people so afraid of scratches?
  • Gosh, I just don't get why anyone would like to have their $500+ watch stay looking nice. It's almost as if some people do care, whereas some people don't. For those who don't care, don't try and convince them to not care. Difficult concept? Nope.

OP, yeah, those scratches suck. It's precisely why I went for the base 5+ with stainless bezel. Had I wanted to spend more, I'd have gone for the titanium. As for repairing, or at least covering a bit, check out gun bluing pens on Amazon.
  • (For me) it doesn't have anything to do with taking care of your stuff or not. Those who know me would say I have some kind of OCD in terms of taking care of my stuff, whether it's my watch, phone, car, house and what not, but everything has a limit.

My point is simply that one of the reasons for buying the watch was because of its looks, and if I cover it in an ugly rubber thingy it doesn't have the looks anymore, and therefore I rather accept a few scratches instead. Same goes for my car; A new scratch will probably ruin my day, but if the alternative is to wrap up the whole car in bubble plastic and hide the design of the car, I rather go with the (unavoidable) scratches.

Others are of course totally free to do what they want, and if they want to go around with a big rubber lump on their arm, or drive around in a bubble wrapped car I won't try to stop them. I just don't get the point, that's all.

Never heard of these, do they work for watches? A quick search on Amazon and a load of gun stuff appears :)
  • Why should a titanium bezel be more protected to scratches? Titanium is lighter than stainless steel but also weaker to wear. Therefore it is not clean it is an alloy that makes it more wear resistance in different grades. But it will get scratches easier than steel.
You also see scratches easier on black painted metal than e.g. brushed metal surfaces. In my opinion you will see at least scratches on plastic surfaces like e.g. FR935.
  • I don't think anyone said Titanium would withstand more bangs, it just hides it better. The painted metal (i.e. black stainless steel) is just bad. I wish I had got the Ti version not because it's 'tougher' just because it hides the inevitable scratches.
