Installing data field updates

I have the data field "Visual HR Zones" installed on my Fenix 5X Plus. When I view settings for this data field on Garmin Connect (IOS), the version is listed as 1.1. On the Connect IQ store, it shows a new version was posted on December 5th (v1.7.1-upd3). I have tried downloading the new version from Connect IQ both before uninstalling the old version and after. I then sync the watch and the data field settings still report version 1.1.

How does one update a data field (or other apps such as watch faces) to replace an older version with an updated one?

I've only had the watch a few months so this is the first time i have needed to do this.

Any advice appreciated.
  • The update works best through garmin express.

    for the update to work through garmin connect mobile consistently make the app inactive temporarily (change active wf to another, change df in activity profile to something else)
  • I just checked, and it seems the version number you see when you go into settings (a read only setting as the first setting) isn't being updated by the data field. You may want to use "contact developer" for that data field in the app store.

    Deleted and re-installed the app both via Garmin Connect and the IQ Apps link on Garmin Express and ended up with v 1.1 each time. I have contacted the developer as suggested. I suppose it's possible the app is being updated but the version number is not.
