Sloppy Sleep Tracking - Needs improvement

I have noticed a fatal flaw with garmin and the sleep tracking system. Simply put if your not sleeping within the window you assign the program makes broad assumptions.

I work shifts and often sleep during the day thus my sleep schedule changes. The garmin watch detects I sleep up to 15 hours a day with 1- 4 hours of awake while it says I am sleeping. I have reached out to garmin and been told I need to sleep during the allotted time frame.

So this is my request to have garmin update their systems. It might not be in the right spot but for me it’s a huge flaw in a system that really does not need to be there. I came from a Fitbit which had no issues detecting sleep patterns.

i use the Fenix as a health guide as well as a hiking aid.

    hi,

    I'm in 6.51 beta now.

hmmmm.... I set a "covering" sleep interval in Garmin Connect (mobile).
    like 20:00 - 11:59
    to be sure I'm in.
there is a recommendation in the book, something like "wear the watch before sleep at least 2h"
mine is always on my wrist (but when charging, and I try to charge it in the office)
my sleep are recorded fine...even when I work late at the beginning of the night.
or when I slept one Sunday all day long, till 17:00 (I had flu) with the movement pretty much correctly detected when I make a tee, eat, etc.

in rare cases, it is not accurate. then I use the manual edit of the sleep.

the only thing that bothers me is the sleep Pulse OX - it is measured in my case 1:30 - 5:30, does not matter I sleep or not...

    just me,
    robert

I have tried uploading photos of what I am looking at but it always fails on these forums. Garmin support said pretty much is what it is.

When working nights sleeping from 6am to 3pm. The watch does a horrible job recoding sleep or anything in between. If I am roughly around the normal sleep window it works pretty good.

fitbit never had this problem. I am fine with editing the odd day but to always be off by 3-5 hours is a bit silly. By not being able to select spots on the graphs it also makes it hard to judge what to trim sleep too. If one could click on part of the graph and get a value it would be helpful.
