Fenix 5 plus won't start, stuck with flashing triangle

Hi,

I tried to download som music to my Fenix 5 Plus from Spotify. During the download (7 songs) the watch started to reboot and won't start after that.
When I turn it off by holding down "Light" for 25+ sec and then try to start it again it seems to loop during startup with at flashing triangle.
I have tried to do a hard reset (light and then start/back and waiting for beep) but it don't work, it still loops with the flashing triangle.

Any idea what to do?

  • same issue here - did you manage to find the solution?

  • I have had that rebooting loop with 5 plus twice and both times was able to manage it.

First time the loop was caused by unsuccessful firmware update through the Android connect app. I was able to manage it by connecting to the desktop Garmin Express App and multiple factory reset (google it). On the 5th or 6th reset my 5 plus finally was connected to Garmin Express and re-updated firmware (by itself, I didn't do anything specific for that but reset). Since then It worked well.

Second time it was caused by bad music file (it was really wrong). I was able to manage it by deleting bad file in File Explorer in Windows while connected through USB. Note that "bad" file generates an error in any Windows any player but causes reboot for Fenix.

  • Ring product support about the blue triangle screen master reset procedure......

    Its something like this...

    1. With the watch powered off, press and hold Start and Back.
    2. Press and release Power.
    3. After the first beep, release Start.
    4. After the second beep, release Back.
    5. The watch will then boot up to the initial setup.
