F5X+ questions/suggestions

Hi,

just switched from F3 to the flagship model, so I have a few questions if you would not mind helping:
  • cracked OHR sensor, any reports on the F5x+ devices?
  • could cracking be the result of Garmin Handlebar mount usage on a MTB rough terrain, over tightened?
  • can the turn by turn guidance be turned off, as it is really annoying in corners? Edge 520 supports it.
  • is there a device file transfer option like on the Edge series? Need the simplest way to send courses to my wife's Edge 520+
  • what are the best and most detailed topo maps of Europe for the 5X+?
Thanks,

Domi
  • - My ohr is fine, using it for months no cracks
    - you can disable the turn by turn guidance
    - as far as I'm aware there's no device to device communication to send courses over. You can use garmin connect to send courses over to devices which i think works pretty well.
    - something which works also pretty good is round trip course generation on the device, so you don't need to plan a course ahead of time but can generate a course of your preferred length. I love it
    - you can use the Maps provided by garmin which are great (but if your device does not come with specified map you need to purchase them). You can also use open streetmap providers. Personally i've used both openfietsmap (road cycling) and openmtbmap (use it to mtb and for off road running) pleased about both providers.
  • Thanks for your input. Mine is a US uniti, and I use it in Europe, so I have been downloading several maps, and testing them. Flashed the firmware so that I can get the JNX files on without the BirdsEye subscription, and it works great, even though the JNX topo maps that looked great on my eTrex30 have some artifacts on the watch. Weird.

How do you disable the turn by turn warnings? I am looking forward to using the auto course creation as well :).
