What is the different with those item model numbers: 010-01989-00 and 010-01989-01?

    Difference is 1 ;):p

I don't think there's an actual difference, only regional.

Thanks DominicM ;) thats what I thought too but if anyone has better answer please join in
  • A guess, but I'm thinking differences in things like what maps are loaded - US vs Europe, etc. Maybe defaults for things like auto prompts - US dialect vs UK dialect.

One thing it's not is ROW vs APAC, as the the first part for APAC versions would likely be different.

Yep, -00 is the NA version that comes with Topo 100K maps for USA and Canada whereas -01 is the European version that comes with TopoActive Europe.

Ah So its only the map different, Thank you for that information!
Because I bought the 00 version in USA and live in Europe.
Guess I need to change the map, do you know where I find more detail about the maps they install for Europe in Fenix 5X Plus?

Update: I found the map I think:
    https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/586905

    Thanks again

Yes, that's the one. But if you don't need the ActiveRouting feature (finding best routes based on activities, e.g. cycling, running, etc.), you're probably better off with one of the many free OpenStreetMap-based maps. Garmin's maps haven't been updated since end of 2017 while the free maps are usually updated every few weeks.
  • There are several free map options available A suitable Google search will get you in the right direction.
