GNSS chipset

Apparently it's a new one over the F5...probably the MT3333 can anyone confirm?

Interestingly it has a Low Power mode at 1 hertz positioning. I wonder if this is similar to the Sony on the S9/ Polar V and if G have any plans to support?

In the GPS firmware (GUP2957.GCD), there's something about "MT3333" and "Software Version 2.30". Also "MT3333_DSP_B221_0001". But the 006-B2957-00 is also used in the Fenix 5, 5X, Chronos and the Forerunner 935. Meaning, they all use the same SKU/ID for their GPS chip and unless Garmin is distributing different firmwares under the same SKU, they all use the same chip.
  • Thanks. I guess there was some confusion at launch as DCR and a couple of others ( e.g. RoadTrailRun) mention a new chipset.

Anyway, would be good to know if the chip can offer any as yet untapped power savings...I suspect not
