How to downgrade fw from 6.0 to 5.10

Is it possible to downgrade fw 6.0 to the previous version of 5.10. The new fw is causing issues with my stryd pod reporting abnormal high power numbers.

as asked in your other thread, did you already try resolving this by resetting your stryd by phone ?

any chance you could post a picture or a original FIT file here or in the other thread ?

i tried a soft reset of the Stryd pod from the Stryd IOS app. That didn’t work. There’s a hard reset option as well. Is that what you are referring to?

  • Fastest way to downgrade the firmware is to download the latest beta zip-package (chose the right one depending on your device from https://forums.garmin.com/forum/on-the-trail/wrist-worn/fenix-5-5s-plus/1426335-fenix-5-5s-plus-5-58-beta-release) and then put the latest stable release from said zip package into the GARMIN folder of your device (detailed instructions on the beta page). This version includes special settings to allow a downgrade.

Be warned, though: Following these steps will completely reset your device so you will have to set things up again. Went through it during the weekend to roll back from 6.0 to 5.1 and it took a few hours out of my Sunday.

Doesn't need to take that long to recover. Make a copy of the Garmin drive - use Android file transfer if you have a Mac.
Once you've reloaded new firmware, or reset the device:

Copy the Settings.fit from the SETTINGS folder into NEWFILES on the device. Unplug the device and allow the settings to take.
Plug in and copy the .fit files from the SPORT folder to NEWFILES on the device. Unplug and allow them to take.

That's basically it. Allow Physio True. Select your activities and you should be good to go.
  • Assuming that this was caused by the upgrade from ANT_BLE_BT_v303 to ANT_BLE_BT_v311 which happened in beta 5.57:
What will happen if one tries to install ANT_BLE_BT_v303 on top of firmware 6.00?

Will the watch even accept a downgrade of this component?
  • I tried on my 5X+, but the watch would not install the older version. So I ended up wit downgrading to FW 5.10, and strange enough that fixes the power spikes, even withe the newer ANT_BLE_BT version.

Ok. That threw my assumption out the window.

Ah, damn, that's my mistake: Should've copied the file to NEWFILES - not their final resting places...

Well, I guess, the occasional house cleaning helps a bit, thanks for pointing out the finer details I've missed, Philip.
