Turn-by-turn directions on switchbacks

With the 5+ when I am following a course that goes through switchbacks on a trail, the turn-by-turn directions constantly notify about an upcoming turn, even though there is no other option but to follow the trail. I searched the forums and have seen conflicting accounts on whether this is expected. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to disable these notifications when there isn't a fork in the trail?
  • Probably something you’d want to suggest as a feature request. I see this with any larger bend in the trails/road so guessing it’s something in the course creation. Not sure there’s anything you can do without losing all the other TBT alerts.

I feel your pain, sevens. Have you tried navigating by map instead of course?
  • Is it definitely a turn notification rather than a sharp turn warning? I get sharp turn warnings on switchbacks but not turn notifications, admittedly on my Edge rather than 5+which I have yet to try on the bike.

When using BaseCamp, you can configure where turn instructions should be shown or not. There was also some website where you could upload GPX tracks and define instructions manually. But I don't find the URL anymore.

Sorry just getting back after the holidays.

roomie, what do you mean by navigating via the map instead of the course? Are you suggesting to just look at the map on the watch to figure out which direction or is there something more? In general, I really like the TBT directions in unfamiliar places with lots of trail options to be confident about my path without having to slow down to determine the next turn.

lustyd, yeah these are actual turn indications. I wonder if Edge treats them differently since the assumption would be that you would be going faster on a bike than with running?
