Fenix 5 regular or sapphire?

Hey guys, i want to buy the fenix 5, and i dont know if its worth to buy the sapphire edition? I mean, the regular is really get scrached to easy? Or its not like that and its good too just maybe could be scrached but the scraches not so bothers? I know that its 100$ difference but maybe its not so much difference? Maybe it just those guys who really perfectionist who cant see little acratch on their watch?
  • I guess I'm somewhat OCD about my watches, I will always buy Sapphire if I can afford it. I had a Suunto Spartan Sport that had the "mineral glass" crystal, and within about a day I somehow managed to brush it up against a brick wall, and BOOM, scratches looked like a cat had it. Get the sapphire if you can afford it.

You are basically asking: "Can you tell me how I will feel about the scratches in my watch if I get the normal glass?"

And my reply will be: "No, we can't!"
  • @oealeo Get a glass screen protector at about 4.99 for 2. Had those on my 935 they are very thin so you hardly notice they're there and for me the surface looks good and enhances clarity.

  • That's what I do if I can't afford a sapphire watch.. :-), or the one I want (Suunto Spartan Sport Wrist HR Baro, for instance). I usually get them from a place named Protection Films 24

  • I had a regular f5 for six moths without a scratch and I have same experience with other watches, no problem with regular glass. My question should be which model you like best. Non sapphire come with metal bezel, that look is not my cup of tea
  • I guess it also depends what activities you mainly do. I had a FR235 for 18 months and it has a plastic screen and never got scratched! If you do more mountain biking where you might get more knocks maybe saphire is worth it.Although they shatter...

I went for non-saphire as I liked the look better and is a clearer display (slightly brighter too) ...so far I haven't bothered with any screen protector either and so far no scratches.

When I get my first scratch I will see it as "character" :-)

Thanks you guys, I went on F5 regular.
Do you have some tips, what to do from the first time I use it (I just did the Garmin Connect and linked it to my phone). Any safety recommendations, tips how to use what to do, cool things to know you wish you knew before :)
    Thanks!

By the way, Im looking for nice Bluetooth headphones to listen music with my watch, what you use?

Try out the various free OSM-based maps for Garmin devices and find one where you like the style. They get updated more regularly than Garmin's maps and will contain every little path you can take.
