5 and 5 plus screen protectors - screen difference?

I'm looking for a screen protector for my 5 plus.

In a hurry last week I bought some 5s ones by mistake that are of course too small. Only realised when I fitted and it's actually pretty good.

They were Akwox brand so I planned on getting some more in the right size. The seller lists them for the 5 but one on of their images or says 5 not equal to 5 plus.

I was under the impression the screens where the same size from 5 to 5 plus. Any idea if these would fit, or recommend some good 5 plus ones.

These:

(Pack of 4) Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Garmin Fenix 5, Akwox [0.3mm 2.5D High Definition 9H] Premium Clear Screen Protective Film for Garmin Fenix 5 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B071Z8HY..._82e8BbSBQF6PR

P.S. I'm in the UK and have 3 spare protectors for the 5s for the cost of postage, let me know if any good!
  • I think it depends what version on the fenix 5 plus you have.
I have the sapphire and the display is slightly domed. I tried the above kimilar but they wouldn't sit flush with the glass.
The centre might adhere but the sides did not causing it to come off in seconds.

I'm not sure if the normal 5+ is designed in this way, but unless someone has a domed tempered glass protector i think you might be stuck with film based protectors instead something like iq shield, skinomi etc
  • Avdi, I am not sure I understand why you would want to fit a screen protector to a sapphire glass. Since the glass is protected by the screen protector, why not save the money and buy a non-sapphire version? With the non-sapphire, the screen is also more easily readable in some light conditions.

I have the sapphire and have already put it through some abuse (pool floor tiles) which scratched the bezel, but the sapphire glass is as new.
  • Thanks guys

I've got the 'basic' non sapphire 5+.
The protector I have is for the 5s, non plus, and fits well apart from the diameter so my screen must be flat. I did hear about the sapphire being domed.

I'll give the kilmar a go I think.

Quite simply, the financial outlay for a screen protector is a very small cost for additional peace of mind. If the extra £5 for a screen protector is a concern, spending £600+ on a watch in the first place might warrant more thought.

As I'm usually on a trail or off roading in some capacity, where a slip of fall could result in direct impact with the screen, having some added protection is not a bad idea in my opinion.

To the point on screen readability, I've also read that different displays offer better reability and I think if readability was a concern I would have gone to seen the watches in person before buying. Thankfully, I've got no problem viewing the screen myself, for others it may be worth bearing in mind.
