Does heart rate from headphones work on 5+

I have a set of Bose soundsport pulse wireless headphones. They have a built in heart rate monitoring. Can I pair that with my Fenix 5+ instead of using a chest strap?
  • According to specs you should be able to pair those heaphones as a Bluetooth LE heart rate monitor, but I haven't verified personally.
  • You could just try and then start an activity and see if it takes it?

I have the F5S+ and also the Bose SoundSport Pulse. I never opted to use it for HR, but decided to try.

It connects OK (as Headphone) but I do not find a way to forward HeartRate.
If I start an activity and switch to HR, it shows just two lines.

Device removed and tried again to connect to it as a External Heart Rate, it does not find the headphones and will just show 'Wear HR monitor to connect'.

    So I guess that's a negative.

  • Most likely because of the Bluetooth limitation of being able to only connect to one device at a time. Probably won't, unless the Headphones present two different signatures to the watch, in which case it "should" work. I have a CycleOps chest strap that will provide power, and it does, in fact present two different signatures, I believe, although it could be one is BTLE and the other is ANT+, as the chest strap will connect to either protocol.

If I connect my SoundSports Pulse to my phone, it will show as a single BT connection and provide bi-directional communication. Music in, button control and HR out. But it lacks ANT+ I am sure.

While connecting to my watch, I have only Music in and button control out.
  • I have the Jabra Elite Sport. I can connect them as a BLE heart rate sensor on the watch. On those buds, that doesn't affect my ability to connect them to the watch or my phone for audio.
  • I have my Jabra Elite Sport headphones connected right now, as a heart rate monitor and listening to music from my watch at the same time.

How is it with Jabra Elite Sport during running (or simply anywhere outside), do you have music dropouts? On which hand do you wear your watch? Many thanks for your answer (I'm trying to find a working buds for running).

I wear the watch on my left hand and I don't have any issues with audio dropouts.

I have tested Jabra Elite 65t Active and they have constant dropouts outside when I wear watch on my left wrist. :( When on right wrist it is OK, but quite uncomfortable for me to run like that. Jabra Elite Sport might be better or do I have faulty device?
