Garmin HRM-Run connection and disconnection

Hey ,

Is HRM-Run disconnecting automatically after activity or do I need to manually switch it off to make sure it is not trying to connect all the time and drain battery ? It is a red rubber version of strap.

I've read 1 or 2 posts about it but there are various opinions and not very specific.

I've had the same experience - three times now once I've changed the battery on an hrm-tri it dies within weeks at most.

muness , my impression so far is there seems to be an occasional hardware issue where some HRM4s don't go into low-power mode as expected. Random SWAG on this is that there's some short that develops in some units due to a manufacturing glitch that causes them to burn through battery in a couple of days.

My HRM4 *knock on wood* has been pretty steady. We'll see what happens to the wife's replacement...

Also folks, for what it's worth - try soft resetting your watch before replacing the HRM4 battery. I noticed after mine glitched out, I had to reboot my 5+ to get it to see the strap at all. Might have saved me $3 on a CR2032!

I have this issue too. But it's only apparent on my F5S+ and not on Edge 1030...(!)

So maybe this is a F5 plus series issue and not a strap issue?

Because I'll actually echo what Teriemer said - we've seen straps connect to our Concept2 but not to our watches.

MPVL, would you clarify what you mean by the above bold text ?

the "searching..." text will only appear when you go into, sensor menu, hr widget, hrv test, stress test, auto activity, ...

you could fine tune your battery test and find out with which menu's, widgets, watchfaces, etc... your leds go out underneath your watch while wearing your hrm-run strap

yes , when you go into the menu =>sensors & accesories => HR - (your name of hr strap) => Status , '' searching'' text appearing , switch it to OFF .

It will save you at least 13% of battery over the 7 days. Switch it back only when using the strap.
