Fenix 5S+ reboot during activity

Today during a 12 mi run (around mi 10.75), my Fenix 5S+ rebooted during the activity. I happened to look down at the screen and saw the Fenix start up logo. When it had restarted, the activity was still running, although it clearly had failed to account for some of the distance I was running when it rebooted. I had my Stryd connected to the watch during the initial part of the run, but it doesn't seem to have reconnected after the reboot because there is a flat line for power, cadence, vertical oscillation, etc data on Garmin Connect for the very end of the run. I have never had this happen before with any Garmin watch, have been using this watch for about 4 months. The activity seems to have saved normally and uploaded to Garmin Connect without issue after the run.

Anyone else experience this? Is this a defect or just a random glitch?
My watch was not connected to my phone during the run.
  • Random glitch. I have seen it happen once since owning my 5+. In my case it was during a pool swim. I was pleased to see it could resume the activity straight away, as I've had other devices that would throw up their hands and say "what activity?"
