Another day, another IQ error

Donated and installed the Actiface on my Fenix 5x Plus about a week ago. Everything worked just fine until I installed another watch face to replace Actiface. The new watch face worked fine for 1 day, but after I've restarted the watch, instead of the watch face I've got an IQ error.
Tried to install the Actiface back on the watch, installed it, thicked the "donation" button (previously donated 5 bucks), set it up in the settings but after finalizing the settings instead of Actiface, I've got another IQ error. Tried restarting the watch, but even after the restart, I've got the same IQ error. Tried another watch face that requires donation to change the settings, but after entering the donation code and setting the watch face, after finalizing, I've got the same IQ error. It seems like only watch faces that don't require donation codes work after you change their settings.
After all this, I've decided to install the Crystal watch face, but after setting it up and finalizing, the ALTIMETER and BAROMETER haven't worked anymore (not showing any values) and when I've tried to calibrate them, they both gave me CALIBRATION FAILURE. I've restarted the watch pressing the LIGHT button for 10 seconds and after I've restarted it, the ALTIMETER and BAROMETER seemed to work again, but now the COMPASS doesn't show me any values. Tried to calibrate the COMPASS with the "figure 8" movement, but after almost breaking my arm, it doesn't finish the calibration, continuing to show me on the screen the "figure 8" movement.
I'm really sick and tired to have to FACTORY RESET the watch every 2 weeks or so, the watch was already in Assistance for 3 weeks, but they sent it back to me with the same problems, they just made a FACTORY RESET and said "now it works just fine". Told them that before I sent the watch in Assistance, I have made countless FACTORY RESETS with the same disappointing results.
  • It sounds like the problem may be related to changing settings. What are you using to do that, your phone or Garmin Express? If it's your phone, is it iOS or Android, and which version of GCM? If it's your phone, does it happen if you use Garmin Express instead?

You may want to pass on this info to the watchface developers using "Contact Developer" in the app store.

I use the latest GCM on Android and GE on Win10 (this one updated yesterday).
I understand that it may be a watch faces issue and I already contacted the developer, but I don't understand why I cannot calibrate the ALTIMETER and BAROMETER anymore. If I start an GPS activity, the ALTIMETER shows me after I close it, the DEM based altitude (4 meters), but the BAROMETER doesn't show any values. If I try to calibrate them, both give me "CALIBRATION FAILURE". Eventually I was able to calibrate the COMPASS with the "figure 8" move, but not the other two.
Ever since I purchased the watch, after 2 weeks of use, I was having the same problems with the ABC, sent it in Assistance, but as I said, they only did a FACTORY RESET to it and sent it back to be after 3 weeks. If I knew I had to FACTORY RESET it every week, I would've spent 750€ on booze and women :) , not on this watch.
  • Just do not install custom apps, widgets or.watchfaces. In my opinion, Garmin shouldn't advertise these. The implementation is a nightmare according to my experiences.
  • UliHe42 - Many millions of downloads kind of show you don't really know much about these apps. I hear from many happy users with mine.
  • Just did a FACTORY RESET of the watch (again), but still get the IQ error from the custom watch faces and STILL can't calibrate the ALTIMETER and BAROMETER (screaming inside).
  • Hi Raul, after reading about your issues I guess that your device might be really faulty. It seems that your ABC sensor doesn't work properly and this can cause also the crash of some CIQ apps if they try to read the values from sensors history without security check. If you are not able to calibrate altimeter and barometer it is almost sure your preseure sensor is dead. You should get replacement from Garmin.

UliHe42 - you certainly don't know what you are talking about.
  • Just read the forums and look for battery issues or hangs or similar things when new firmware versions show up. Often, the advice is to.disable all apps, watch faces, etc. This matches my experiences, but others might think different about it. After removing all.of these, my watch runs perfectly fine. Based on my experiences, I think my conlusion might be ok, but I am fine when not everybody agrees. No problem for me
  • No problem for me neither. My point is that you should not put all the CIQ apps into one basket. I have never had an issue with properly written code.
  • The JBlack watch face doesn't work either after entering the code. It seems like every donation based watch face doesn't work anymore on my watch.
Did 2 Factory Resets, unpaired and paired with phone again, but after an hour the compass stoped working and after a couple of hours started working again, but in the same time the altimeter and barometer stopped working and they are dead from that point on.
Entered the TEST mode and the barometer seems not to work at all (see picture).ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1419362.jpg
  • Already did, but I wouldn't get my hopes up, sent it before with the same problems and they just did a Factory Reset and sent it back to me after 3 weeks. Keep me in your prayers!
