Installing watch maps on basecamp

Hi,

When I connect my watch to basecamp,it takes some hours to have east topo and west topo download to Basecamp . When I unplug the watch maps are not available .
Is there an easy way to have the the topo map of the watch installed even if the watch is removed ?

You can take an empty flash drive, create a folder "GARMIN" and copy the maps there. I'm not sure if you also need the GarminDevice.xml, too. But then the map should show up in BaseCamp as long as the flash drive is connected.

Yes, but not the maps from your watch. Some OpenStreetMap-based maps come with a Windows installer, that installs the map for BaseCamp directly. But *.img files are only searched on Garmin devices or the SD-card of a Garmin device (which you simulate with the flash drive).

You can create a virtual removeable drive and use that instead of a memory stick or SD card.
