In some exercises, I don't want my watch attempting to count reps. For example I have a HIIT workout consisting of 4x4 sessions. Each exercise the watch tries to count the amount of reps I complete, such as bungee jumps. It's never correct and is pointless. How can I turn it off? Thanks
I understand you are using the Strength activity. There is no way to turn off reps, because basically that is what this app does: counts reps and tries to guess the type of exercise. There is also beta 'set' recognition instead of manual button press, but this can be turned off. You can always create a different app for your excersise or use fittness, cardio etc
I just created a workout (static running 30s, rest 30s, bungee jumps 30s, rest 30s, mountain climbers 30s, rest, etc) and sync'd it with my watch and running it via an activity. It then started counting reps.
For HIIT I use the Cardio activity, the Strength activity isn't for HIIT from everything I've observed.
Yep that's what I used. I copied the Cardio activity and named it HIIT. Start the activity and then select 'do workout'. Select the workout above and it counts the reps!
I get what you are asking; you’re not trying to disable rep counting initiated when simply recording an acitivity (only the Strength Training app does that anyway), but that the rep counting kicks in when you execute a structured Workout (created in Garmin Connect and sent to the watch) in the Cardio app and you don’t want it to. Whilst I don’t think it will completely stop the rep counting in the Cardio app, the annoyance might be less if you turn the “Edit Weight” setting in the Cardio app to “Off”. That said, the problem may simply be that the Cardio app is configured to count reps when executing a Workout; so perhaps create a new “HIIT” app based upon the “Other” activity app (rather than the Cardio app) and see if that stops the rep counting for your Workouts?
When they first released the strength app on the FR935 there was an option to disable rep counting. That seems to have disappeared somewhere along the way and I find it super annoying. I really wish I could turn it off so that I could just record the total amount of time I was doing a strength workout.
