Buzzing sound along with vibration?

Hi,

I owe a fenix 5x plus since a month and am very happy with it. Since yesterday, the sound of the vibrator has changed. Until yesterday it sounded kind of normal or expected, but now there is an extra bussing sound (little higher whistling kind and louder) along with the normal vibrating sound. If I would have to guess I would say the capsule of the vibrator is loose or something, but the watch itself does not make any sound if shaken. This is rather anoying and really dropping my perception on the toughness of the watch. Has anybody experienced the same or any recommendation?

Regards Boris
  • I had the same thing with my 5x, I found that it was the quick fit band that was resonating on the pins. when I tighten the watch on my wrist the sound is gone.
  • Thank youmariomobil for your response!

I guess it actually started around the same time I attached a new watchband. Still, I tested it without a watchband attached at all holding the watchband pins in pressure and the sound is still there :(.

    Best regards Boris
  • Hi mariomobiel,

actually I will try to tighten the screws holding the pin tonight to see if it this.

Thank you and best regards Boris
  • Unfortunately the screws have been lock tight, so this does not seem to the the cause of the extra sound :(

Hi Boris. I had a similar thing happen with my 5x after only about 5weeks since purchase. (Jan/2018) The sound changed from a normal sound to almost like a bad 'rattling' sound. I put up with it for a couple of months then returned/replaced the watch it annoyed me so much.
  • Hi NeoSamurai,

I had the same feeling, it annoyed me too much for a watch of this grade. I contacted Garmin and they opened an RMA for me without further discussions. Thank you Garmin for this service! Only draw back has been the postal service (not a Garmin Problem). German DHL took 7 Days to send the watch to Garmin and 9 Days to send it back to me so I have been without my F5x+ for nearly 20 Days.

    Cheers Boris

So what was the problem ?

  • Hi 8696287,

don't know. Garmin simply replaced the device. My assumption would be the  virbation motor got loose somehow causing the  buzzing sound..

    Regards Boris
