Slightly different issue than the OP, but still related to button wear:

I've noticed lately that my Back/Lap button is a bit different from the other buttons - seems like there's less travel, and I also have to push it harder. Sometimes there's almost no click-feel to it either but it varies a bit. I have not experienced that it's not functioning, it just has a different "feel" to it.

As long as the button is working I don't see it as a problem, I'm just curious whether it's normal or not.
Does anyone else experience the same?

I have no feel issues with my F5+ however my F5 had a wierd double click on the start button

True, my point was really these all look identical but from different sellers and different prices!

I have a 5+ sapphire and am very careful to avoid damaging it, to the extent of putting a silicon protector on it when I go riding.

However I have just noticed that the finish on the back button has worn away to reveal a silver band around the button where it presses into the watch, either that or the button is now coming out a bit more to reveal an unpainted area.

Either way I am somewhat disappointed that just standard usage as caused this issue so soon, all other buttons are fine.

This is not normal, I had the same problem with my back button and I got an exchange for a new one at the store. My problem occurred after 2 months and I do lots of weight training involving button presses, the new unit is fine so far and would probably already have this issue by now if it was normal.

The button is misaligned inside the housing causing it to rub with each press, and for the price they charge this is not really acceptable. The store told me that if the new unit develops the same problem I should not hesitate to bring it back, however it appears to be a one time quality issue.

I recommend you contact Garmin to arrange an RMA or take it back to the store if they have an amazing return policy.
