Two FP:s Stryd & RunScribe Plus

I did my first run yesterday with Stryd and RunScribe i did connect them to the watch as Footpods and it got me thinking later on... what if i want to get pace from a FP? Is there a choice to choose one over the other or do i have to disconnect both of them and then connect Stryd first choose as a "pace maker" and the connect RunScribe?
  • I don’t know the answer to your question and I don’t know what the runscribe does, I’m just curious; why would you want to use two foot pods?
  • There’s no need to pair the RunScribe Plus pods as foot pods to get the RunScribe metrics (there’s two pods anyway: left and right). You can simply use the RunScribe Plus CIQ data field which ‘listens out’ for the RunScribe pods’ ANT signals independent of any foot pod pairing. It’s then your choice as to which foot pod you pair to as a foot pod. You will have three choices for that: Stryd pod, RunScribe left pod or RunScribe right pod; but it sounds like you want to use the Stryd for pace and distance, so don’t even bother to pair the RunScribe pods if that is the case.

There’s more resource and help over on the RunScribe community forums https://community.runscribe.com/
  • Nice... thank you Crispin_Ellisdon for the aswer :) I didnt know that i dont have to pair RunScribe.
  • Assuming as fyi when you run with stryd, you get THREE sensors... two ant for me for running and cadence, and a third for power that appears on the watch, never set it up, just fenix calls it out as connected.

I guess you at some point have confirmed that you wanted to use the two "standard" ANT+ sensors.

I got such a prompt from my watch 2 days ago, at a start of a Run, asking if I wanted to connect the Stryd power meter. I inadvertently confirmed that, because the prompt appeared while I was busy pushing buttons.

I am not sure where is the best place to post my question so I thought I would start here. I am having a lot of problems getting my runscribe pods to work with my Fenix 5x plus. I have posted in community.runscribe.com and I have worked with Runscribe's support. The pods seem to work because I use Runscribe's realtime capability on an iPhone and I see the data from both pods when I run. I have gotten both pods to work my 5x plus once, then the watch only worked with one pod and then it does not work at all (there is nothing showing in the runscribe plus data fields when I run). Has anyone seen anything like this? I have also tried to get it to work with a 935 without much success. The only guess I have is that I keep changing things and somehow Connect is blocking the watch to work with the pods.
  • First, I just need to confirm you have RunScribe Plus pods and not the older RunScribe Pro pods (RunScribe Pro simply won’t talk to Garmin watches). Also just to confirm you’ve updated the RunScribe Plus pods to the latest firmware, currently 36.03. The RunScribe Plus pods ‘talk’ to the iPhone via BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) but it’s their ANT+ transmissions that your Fenix 5X plus and 935 are listening out for when you use the RunScribe Plus CIQ data field. If you’ve installed the RunScribe CIQ DF correctly on both watches and you’re not receiving data from the pods when you run then there could be a fault with the ANT+ transmission from the pods but not the BLE transmission (very odd that both would have faulty ANT+ from the off, but not impossible I suppose). You really do need to contact RunScribe support and keep working with them, as your experience does not reflect mine using the RunScribe pods with my Fenix 5+, Fenix 5 and Fenix 3.
