FW 5.00 issues

Issues i experienced so far with FW 5.00 are:

-) Uninteded start of an activity (happened twize today). It acts as if the start activity button was pressed.
-) Garmin connect on iOS does no more automatically connect to the watch. I needs to be killed and restarted to retrigger a connection attempt.
  • The only thing I can think of is some problem with interoperability between my specific phone model and Garmin Connect (I use a Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+). Which phone model do you have if you don't mind me asking?

    I have an iPhone 5S.

This model is so old that I was not hit by the BT/ANT+ bug in some of the latest Fenix 5+ firmware versions. I don't know if that has also made a difference in nightly calibration.
  • Thank You for your reply, it's not an android phone then. I am wondering if this works for people with android or if only I am affected. At least for now the exercise tracking works well and I have no battery drain.

I got unreliable, sporadic missing email and other app notifications in combination with my iPhone.
The bug must be somewhere in the Garmin firmware since distance is only 0.5m and definately no EMI problem.

I have been unable to keep a background connection from the Fenix 5X+ to an iOS device no matter what I try. This means that activities are not automatically uploaded to connect, the weather widget will not automatically update (red exclamation point), and battery life is drained faster.

What I have done to troubleshoot the issue:

    Replaced the Fenix 5X+ (yep...)
Reset Fenix 5X+ settings (power on holding back button)
Wiped iPhone 7 (iOS 12) installed only connect app
Wiped iPhone 8 (iOS 12) installed only connect app
Installed connect on iPhone 6+ (iOS 11.4.1)
    Removed/Reinstalled Connect App many times
Restored iOS on iPhone 7&8 to a time when syncing was working (v4.64 Beta / v5.0)
    Removed pairing/re-paired
    Removed device from connect online
Created new connect account, associated, paired in iOS connect app
Downgraded v5.10 Fenix to 4.20, upgraded to v4.74 beta (last version before v5.0 that kept background connection)
Toggled background app refresh, location tracking, et al, in iOS settings/iOS connect settings

I'm not sure the series of events needed to keep the Fenix connecting to the iOS device in the background, but I would love for Garmin to tell me.
