Spotify App

I know Spotify is firmly in bed with Samsung right now. I don't know if someone is developing an app to easily transfer playlists over or not, but does someone know of an easy way to get music over to the device? I pretty much just use Spotify on my phone while working out so don't have anything downloaded to my PC yet.

Just wanted to see if anyone had an easy way to transfer Spotify to the device. Thanks.

man, Spotify on the Fenix plus is a really big deal. "Sadly" i got a forerunner 935 the day before Spotify was announced.. this would have been the game changer for me to get the fenix plus instead.
to top all of that, my forerunner 935 is rma'd to garmin right now because a defective screen. :[
  • Ok so I’m probably missing something really obvious here, where is the ‘shuffle’ option for Spotify playlists? (Thanks!)
  • From the play screen, push the three dots (Up/Menu button) and you should see Library, Volume, Last and Shuffle on/off

    Hi,

I bought the Fenix 5 Plus just for syncing my Spotify Playlists from my computer/phone. Unfortunately I've run into a problem I hope the forum could aid me in. The watch lets you choose one music provider at a time to use. You can't use your own music and Spotify App at the same time by mixing two playlists. Therefore I need to switch Music Provider if I want to listen to my own music files.

I tried to import my local stored music files on my computer by adding them to Spotify and then sync the playlist to the watch. Unfortunately the watch only sync songs in the playlists belonging to Spotify, not your local files.

That leaves me with two options.

    1. Switch music provider in the middle of a training session if I want to listen to my own music. Not practical at all. Would be great to have all music in one folder and have the option to shuffle songs from your own music and Spotify Playlists.

    2. Find where the Spotify data is stored on the watch and try adding my music manually. I'm not sure this is possible. The Spotify App data may be encrypted. Where is the data stored on the watch?

    Please advise
  • I noticed this as well... I installed the Spotify app and it wiped out my own music. Very disappointed by that...

Spotify on the Fenix is great, but when it comes to a 3hr podcast, i'm finding it is a random event whether it chooses to let me pick up the podcast where i left off after a 1hr run, or whether i have to skip forward by pressing the ->15sec button a million times. Does anyone else find this? It might be if the watch has been powered down or not, but i'm not convinced that's the decider.
It would also be good to have a timer on playback so you could know where you're at (in a long podcast!) rather than rely on the green bar around the inside of the bezel.

You cannot access the location where music from CIQ apps such as Spotify is stored for obvious reasons. It is encrypted anyway.

Bit late in responding to this, but there's possibly two other solutions that you haven't considered?

    3. Find your own music in the Spotify catalogue and creating your playlist that way? This would be the easiest solution but I'm assuming your "own" music is stuff that isn't on Spotify

    4. You can get software that allows you to "rip" Spotify playlists into unprotected MP3s. It's at best a grey area (but most likely illegal where you live) and it will mean you can't take advantage of dynamic Spotify playlists

The Spotify files are encrypted and inaccessible on the watch. That's no surprise - there's no way Spotify's licensing agreements would allow them to use offline storage otherwise.

I'm finding Spotify often hangs when re-opening a podcast midway through, started on a previous run. It finds my headphones, but no sound. The only way to revive it is to power off and on the watch, which loses my place in the podcast. Is there any way of bringing the app back to life, rather than having to reset?
    Anyone else finding this bug?
And while I'm at it! is there any way of skipping quickly through a 3hr podcast? At the moment, it's virtually impossible to get to the 2hr point, as rapidly pressing the 'skip 15sec fwd' button ends up confusing it (as well as it generating a repetitive strain!). It would be great if Spotify could make an adjustment whereby holding the '15s fwd' button skips fwd in batches of, say, 1min, so skipping an hour+ might take just a few seconds, rather than being effectively impossible. Does anyone have contact with Spotify?

John_Vaughan Yes, I have the same issue. I only listen to music in the Gym (once or twice a week). Every time I come back to the music app after this one week or few days, the music app is stuck. I can press play but no music, even though my headphones are paired. I have to restart the watch to make it work again.
