I enjoyed the Performance Condition data field on my Fenix 5X quite a bit. On my 5X Plus I still get the popup notification shortly after starting an activity, but for the life of me, I cannot find the data field for it to add it permanently to a screen. Any ideas? Did they remove it? I can't find any info that says it has been removed.
I am in an Indoor Bike activity, which uses power and heart rate data, and has historically always given me Performance Condition. Today on a training ride, the Performance Condition screen flashed up with a +4 during the activity. Still not in any data fields.
Is this intended behaviour? What is the reason? If the indoor bike has a power meter, one would assume that VO2Max and Performance Condition could be measured with the same reliability as on a road bike with power meter.
Yeah, that is really silly, and very disappointing. The Fenix 5X had this data field available for Indoor Bike. And why would the data field be removed, but the Perf Condition screen still pops up mid-activity? Makes no sense.
The reason Performance Condition requires GPS is that the device needs to assure it has a good calibration with pace data. It can rely on sensors, but sensor calibrations can vary and thus creating a lot of unknowns. With GPS, we have known values to generate data from correctly for Performance Condition.
There is no "pace" with cycling, and no need for GPS.
As I've mentioned twice already, Performance Condition DOES DISPLAY using Indoor Bike activity, but it only flashes up once during the first 15 minutes of the activity. There should be an option to constantly display Perf Cond as a data field. This data field was/is an option for Indoor Bike with the Fenix 5X. Performance Condition for cycling requires speed, power, and heart rate... all of which is available while cycling indoors on a trainer (hence why the 5X Plus displays Perf Cond at all for Indoor Bike).
How about we just admit that this is a bug and should be fixed?
