Sleep tracking

Hello,
Just got my 5x+. Is there a sleep widget on the watch? I don't have a sleep widget. I have sleep in Garmin connect(not tracking), but no sleep tracking on watch. I update software on Garmin express to 4.20.
Thanks for any help, Robert
  • There is no sleep widget nor any other sleep data on the F5+.
  • The sleep data can be found in Garmin Connect (Daily Summary) or Garmin Connect Mobile (as a tile or in Health Stats). As far as I know there is not a widget or way to see this on the watch itself. You should set your Normal Bed Time and Normal Wake Times in your User Settings as I believe I read somewhere that this improves the accuracy of the tracking.

Anybody knows why there is no widget? More and more smartphone features are moved to the watch (f.e. music and pay) and/or data is send from the smartphone to the watch (f.e. weather), why can sleep info only be processed and shown on the smartphone and not f.e. as part of 'my day'?

One vote for adding a widget on the watch displaying sleep data!
  • Anybody knows why there is no widget?

The reason is probably that the sleep data isn't generated by the watch itself but on the server side of Connect after data on movement, pulse etc.etc. recorded by the watch is synced to the server.

But yeah I agree - there shouldn't be any reason why that data couldn't be synced back to the watch for review i.e. in a widget or MyDay.
  • I observed something interesting today. My sleep tracking is also way way off, reporting that I went to sleep at 21 when I actually fell asleep at 23:00 etc. Today I saw that the app reported my sleep time spot on, but also said "unable to detect advanced sleep tracking" (or something similar), but as soon as the app synchronised with the server, the sleep data was updated. Now the sleep data was way off again, saying that I fell asleep at 21:30 (when I actually went to bed at 23:50, which the watch/app reported correctly before synchronising).

Seems to me that whatever happens online does a poor job at calculating my actual sleep time.

Seems to me that no one at Garmin is using Garmin products or they have a VERY strict sleep schedule.
I cannot understand how Fitbit does it, but they are 90% or more accurate with all the sleep you are taking during a 24 hour period. Aside the "usual" bugs, Garmin would have even greater products if they would only get their marbles together with the sleep tracking.
In my case, working nights for almost 20 years and having a "weird" sleep schedule, the sleep tracking is just a bad joke. Never had this issue using the Ionic.

The sleep tracking I would say is this watches weakest point. If your sleeping outside of the allotted window it goes completely wonky. I often work night shifts and the watch thinks I sleep 18 hours a day with 8 hours of recorded movement. That makes no sense!

My sleep track is incorrect every single day by far! It says always then I am asleep around 21, when I do to bed after 23. Only below I am watching TV, reading, on my mobile a bit quieter!! on Garmin Support Chat agent told me that there is nothing to do!!! And maybe to get better sleep record change bed time to 2am instead of 11pm!!! Erroneous tracking continues the same sh...and worst I get notifications until 2am... no go for a 800€ watch!!!
