GPS 2.24 with FW 4.2 possible?

Hi all,

From what I've been reading it looks like the latest beta of gps fw 2.24 is giving good results.

I'm running the latest official release firmware version 4.20. Is it possible to just copy the latest gps file to my watch to upgrade just the gps firmware without having to install the whole beta?

Thanks.
Javier
  • Should work. At least for me it works even with older Beta 3.21 firmware. I only updated GPS to 2.24 and Bluetooth/ANT to 2.91
  • Yes upgrade will work, but I think that there is no way to downgrade GPS firmware later.
  • Thanks both. I just installed gps 2.24 successfully I'm going to let it soak gps signal for 15 min and then I'll go for a walk to see how it performs compared with 2.20.
  • Just a quick update. This morning I did a 5k walk with the old gps 2.20 firmware. This afternoon I've repeated exactly the same walk with gps 2.24 and wow, the track is definitely better. The total distance is slightly short of the actual distance in both but the quality of the track has improved significantly.

Did exactly the same, 4.20 on mine, but updated only GPS and BT/Ant to the ones u mention.

Had maps on and a bike activity on pause for 10-15 mins all together and went for a run. Did not notice significantly better tracking, but at least have these new drivers for these services :)
