hi all , I were just wandering if on the fenix 5 plus you can send gpx file from your phone to the garmin fenix 5 plus using Bluetooth or wifi ? Also what are people thoughts on the off road mapping is it decent to follow and have people been doing routes round the mountains just using the mapping on the watch with success ? Not bought one yet thinking of doing though just want peoples experiences before I do thanks
I did this the other day. On my iPhone, I tapped on a GPX file, opened it in the Garmin Connect App, which prompted me to create a Course. Set the name, saved it and tapped the "Send To Device" button. App said it would be on the watch at the end of the next sync. It was. Extremely straightforward.
Same goes for my android (LG G6): I tap on a GPX file that I have downloaded to the phone... It opens in Garmin Connect... I'm prompted as to what type of course it is (paved cycling, mountain biking, running, etc.)... I can then edit it (change the name, add course points, etc)... Then I select "Save"... And finally, I select "Send to Device". Once my watch syncs via Bluetooth the course is ready for use. Done. It only take a minute or two in all. I have just recently done this in the parking lot ready to roll on a group ride where I had downloaded the GPX route off of Facebook at the last minute.
Regarding off road mapping... I haven't tried this yet. I'm eager to hear what others have experienced.
