Fenix 5X Plus - 4.65 Beta Release

Hello Fenix 5X Plus users,

We have new beta software ready for your upcoming adventures!

Note: Please allow for the updates to propagate across all servers. There is no need to post that the link does not work. It will after a bit of patience.

4.65 Change Log Notes:

Fixed issue where ANT sensor data would drop during an activity when connected to a Bluetooth 5.0 smartphone (ANT/BLE/BT 2.91 software).
Improvements to the Music Player.
Various bug fixes.

**Update** GPS FW 2.24 has been added to the download links above. Our public beta users are encouraged to load the new GPS firmware and use it for their next activities. If there are any activities where the GPS performance did not improve, we would like to see them. This also includes if comparing to previous activities. To send data to us for evaluation, please include the following in an email to [EMAIL="[email protected]"][email protected][/EMAIL]:

FIT file(s) from Garmin\Activity folder
- FIT files from previous activities if comparing same routes
GarminDevice.XML from the Garmin folder
Subject line of email must use the following format: ‘Fenix 5+ Series - GPS 2.24 Evaluation - DATE_ForumUserID_ActivityType’ (ex. "20180823_odsweng_Walk")

Following these instructions will ensure your email and files are delivered and sorted correctly. Lastly, you will not get an email reply unless we need more information from you, but rest assured, the data sent will be evaluated.

Please note, the beta updates released on these forums are not suitable for APAC region devices.

Please send all bug reports to [EMAIL="[email protected]"][email protected][/EMAIL], and indicate which model of the fenix 5 Plus series you have in the subject line.

Has anyone else noticed that the music player skips the last 5 seconds or so of a song when switching to the next song in a playlist with this beta?

I have that with a couple songs, but not all. I attributed it to how I ripped the mp3's vs the player itself.

2 Issues i found out:

1th
Sometimes (not sure if related with the GarminPay) does the ANT+ Connection get lost and i can't find my HR and other ANT+ Devices.
(Happened never when i have done no payments with GarminPay after the installation, but had it twice a wile after a GarminPay Payment)
Restart of the Watch fixes that issue.

2nd
After each restart of the watch (Power of and on, no reset) does my watch lost his wallet.
Have to open the Wallet in Garmin Connect and then do afterwards a Synchronization to geht my Wallet back on the Garmin Fenix 5xPlus

Anyone have similar issues with that FW?

It's been almost a week without any ALTIMETER issues after installing this beta, but today, after I've tried to change watch face, it started to act up again. The watch freezed, had to Reset it by holding the LIGHT button.
After restarting and connecting the watch to the Garmin Connect app, on the Music widget appeared as text, the last web search I did on the phone with Samsung Browser and for 2 minutes it seemed that it was playing a song, the timer that usually shows the time elapsed of the song, was active. After that, it stopped as if I turned the music off. Pressing the Play Key on the watch, opened the Youtube app on my phone. Never seen something like this before.
I don't know if it's the Beta version or my watch is completely bananas, aside the Altimeter issues, but I'm beginning to get sick and tired of it.
One question off topic... Why can't I enable the PM in the user settings of this forum? I enable it, click SAVE CHANGES, but doesn't save it at all. The other settings are saved, only the PM is not.

Tried the latest firmware this morning...swam with my old 920 and the new fenix5x+. Still getting twice the mileage on the 920, map seems to show the Fenix doing a LOT less sampling. Had both set for "smart" data recording, and initially GPS+GLONASS for 920 and GPS for Fenix. Did another run with GLONASS turned on, same thing. Sending in my logs to the dev team...had hoped they had worked this out, may be returning this thing. If it can't handle OWS, its not worth keeping.

New firmware for ANT/BLE/BT version 3.00(2.91 is the version from beta update 4.65). After syncing the watch with garmin express(mac version) i receive a new update for ant/ble/bt. I did not see any additional information about this update.

Ran today with 3.0 and while it might be placebo, my Jaybird Run headphones only faded out a little once. Usually if i run this route and have the watch on my left wrist they will cut out like crazy on one particular street. They didn't do this at all today and only faded (hard to describe, but think left/right fade) once. These headphones work really well when the watch is on the right wrist, but i hate wearing it that way, so any improvements to the watches BT stack are welcome.

I noticed they released an update to the Connect app for IOS two days ago. It's not perfect, but the Bluetooth connection seems improved. Battery life seems a bit better too.
