I give up for now with my Garmin ecosystem

After waiting nearly 3 month after buying 2 Fenix 5s Plus and the Garmin index scale for better firmwares, I give up and put these 3 items in my storeroom.
The Fenix 5s Plus has a lousy sleep detection, the basic function virtual partner ist still not fixed (something I need to prepare for halfmarathons), music can freeze during running, I need to wear the watch on the right wirts to connect to my headphones. The index scale is unable to connect and transfer data to the website by normal routers. I am sick of being a beta tester for lousy products.
For now I go back to my Fitbit Ionic (it has its flaws too), my Aria 2 (always connects but has less information) and runtastic which delivers my "virtual partner" in a perfect way. Once more I give up believing one ecosystem fits your needs. I am deeply disappointed by Garmin. 1700 € Bucks for just nothing.

It does not surprise me, because i am casual/amateur athlete/nerd, with all of theese bugs and failures a person looking for a good performance is not in the best place...

Btw i'm looking for the new Polar Vantage V, surely less features but working as they have to work (for 300€ less)

  • thank you txepe for that hint with polar. as a matter of fact: all sportsmen around me use polar devices (maybe it was because of some university discount why so many bought them). and seriously: everyone is happy with the device...

just fund some rumours about that polar watch. sounds VERY interesting!

The hint with the Polar Vantage V is really interesting!
Had a Polar before and was happy with it - Garmin software is a mess!!
  • Also curious for the comming Polar Vantage V - first time tempted to maybe leave the Garmin system after a decade. But lets wait what the Vantage really will be like...

Garmin jusr released another stupid music bugfix firmware update and keeps on disappionting me.
Polar, i know you can do better!!!
  • yes, the priorities they choose while fixing the bugs are strange. they should enable a sports watch with standard features working flawless

When I bought a Polar V800 in 2014, I had the same problems: nothing was working as advertised, many features were even missing. GPS for OWS was as useless as that of the Fenix 5+. We were practically beta testers for a watch that was brought to the marked unfinished.
11 updates later, in summer 2017, everything was working fine and we had a happy year together, until two months ago, when it broke down. I switched to the Garmin Fenix 5+, because I had no evidence of a Polar successor. And now the same is happening.
And for the new Polar Vantage V everything will repeat again.
    Have a nice day,
    Ossi

Didn't want to destroy your dreams. But they are all the same, in a way...
  • IF the oncoming Polar Vantage works well from the start, I assume A LOT will make the jump from here. I know I will ...!

Garmin has totally lost it with ALL their products the last year... Quantity rather than quality seems to be Garmins way. But I think customers starts to realize this, so when ever solid alternatives comes up - off we are. And I don't think many of us will look back...
