HRM-TRI & Footpod

Probably a dumb question easily answered but just wanted to clarify.

I just upgraded from a Vivoactive 3 I was using with a footpod for indoor activities, to a 5+ and bought a HRM-TRI for the advanced metrics. Now that I have the HRM-TRI I no longer need the footpod for indoor activities like indoor track or treadmill correct? The battery on the footpod needs replacing now and I was wondering if there was any reason to have both connected to the Fenix at the same time.
  • The HRM-Tri does not provide pace. If you want indoor pace other than the watch's built-in accelerometer, then HRM-Tri won't help you. You'd still need a footpod.
  • Thanks. The pace on my last treadmill run was way off but I got a battery low message for the footpod while I was doing it so that's probably why. Guess I'll replace the battery and continue to use both. Thanks for the info.
  • While the footpod battery is supposed to last ~5 hours after you first get the low battery warning I often have had it die much faster than that, and very often glitch starting shortly after, so that's a plausible reason for the treadmill run to be way off.

Though it also depends, IME, greatly on how consistent your stride style is.
