How to Dev/Diagnostics and PTS Test Mode (inc voltage status/battery)

Well i was clicking everything as you do and it turns out (apologies if everyone else knew) that in Settings\About if you then hit the light button on/off x 4 in a row about 1 second apart, you get a Development page, that gives you options to

: Force Crash
: Save RAM region
: Enable or Disable Bluetooth logging
: Enable or disable PTS Test Mode

. Works in Fenix 3 as well so I guess standard, and new home for the diagnostics as seems a few people by bad fortune did the old method which is without going to the About area first.

P.s. still working out the next step once there...

:)
  • hi, from which screen, the Development one? if so nothing appears to happen if you do that combination there... i can of course hit the force crash option, just not obvious when you press enable test, what next... more i think on it, i assume it enables the option from startup... and yes i did then try power off, then power+back but that leads you to the reset watch option
  • Switch off the device.
    Press the down button and hold it
    Press the light button to switch on the device, let it go when the garmin triangle appears
    let the light button go
  • nice, so i guess that development tab is where you can as was thinking then just disable access to this... anyway done too much playing/testing with garmins today (see my post on 5x plus on the running dynamics topic) seeya
