Charging cap

I bought a small silicone rubber charging cap from Amazon to cover the charging area on the back of my 5 plus whilst I'm wearing it. It seems to be leaving fragments of rubber around the pins and I'm now wondering if this purchase was a good idea. Are the charging pins ever subject to corrosion and does anyone use such a charging cap. In short do I need it or can I live without it ? TIA.
  • I had a Forerunner 935 for more than a year(same charging port) and never had any issues with dirt/debris or corrosion. I wore it all day every day and only ever took it off to charge or shower. I don't think you need it, and might actually cause some damage from holding water or debris in the charging port area. Holding moisture in the port area might actually accelerate corrosion.

I agree. I had a 5S for a year prior to getting my 5S Plus, and wore it every day including in the shower, in a lake, and in the snow with no corrosion on the charging port.
  • no need of this rubber cap, I used to wear my fenix 5 24/7, took it off only for charging, swimming, running, open waters, swimming pool, etc, without problems. This was more then 1 year long. Now switched to 5 plus and I am using it in the same way!
