Activity 'saved' and shows up like Move IQ

Hello,

I started an activity today, 2km running I had to use a toilet and stopped the activity, to resume after that. I got each km a nice information of where I am and my HR data (from Garmin HRM Run). I stopped the activity after 17km and saved it. I got to see the usual displays including the recovery hours etc.
I switched off BT fairly quick after that and watched the result on my phone after a shower.
The activity is not shown, but the amount of steps are. After checking some bit I found it back in the "Move IQ' list.

Of course I have this question which I read before, how do I move the Move IQ entry to be a normal activity. But of course first of all, how can this happen. It was clearly tracking as I heard all tracking data on my headphones during the run (and the battery did drain for 30% throughout the run  )

I am still on the 3.1 software as the 4.0 seem unavailable for me still.

Any ideas?
best regards,
Ruud
  • Actually had this happen to a friend that did an 11 mile trail run with me yesterday. We ultimately ended pulling the .fit file off the watch and loading manually to Garmin connect online.

Other activities since have saved just fine.
  • Hello NMYeti,

Kind of prustrating, I had it today again. Now it was a cycling activity.
No BT connection to the phone at the moment of the activity. Started, Stopped, Saved, all normal.
After maybe 20-30 minutes I switched on BT and synced to the phone, the 'intensity minutes' is the only place I can see that it noitced my activity. BT switched off again.
After another half hour I switched the BT on again, to see that now my calendar actually has a cycling activity, but with Move IQ again.

You say You took the .fit file from the watch and loaded manually. I have not tried such, will have a look at this in the evening. Does the app know all data after that, like HR, track etc.? or would it be the same as adding an activity manually based on simple data like start time, stop time, km, HR avg, HR max. etc.?
  • Hello NMYeti,

Looks like this ain't so easy after all. I had two MoveIQ sessions which I would like to 'upload'.
They are not available in the GARMIN\Activity folder, which is probably the folder where the 'normal ones' go.
I found another folder, GARMIN\TempFIT , there is only one .fit file in there, it is the one from Sunday morning, but trying to upload gives : "An error occurred with your upload. Please try again."
Tried to copy it first to my HDD of my PC and then to the website, same result.

Looks to me like this file is corrupt from a Garmin point-of-view. The bike-activity from this morning is nowhere to be found.

I'll try to contact Garmin on this, although I am afraid I am not of much help, as I did a factory reset this morning.
Two activities after this have gone normal.

    best regards,
    Ruud

PS a mail to Garmin with the above information just went out
